Safety (COR Audit)
Leader’s management team develops and applies policies and standards to ensure the safety of everyone and everything at our operating bases and job sites. Communicating our health, safety and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures to our employees, contractors and customers is of the utmost importance.
Leader’s safety program has the following key characteristics:
- Provincial Certificate of Recognition (COR), the primary document certifying that an operator has a comprehensive safety system, which is kept in good standing year-to-year;
- Petroleum Industry Guiding Principles for Worker Safety, which Leader has implemented and follows;
- Petroleum Services Association of Canada membership;
- Comprehensive internal policies and manuals governing health and safety; and
- Leader’s Emergency Response Plan, which includes a complete manual on emergency response procedures for corporate and field operations (the prime contractor on the well site has primary responsibility for emergency procedures).
Leader’s recently revamped Corporate Health & Safety Manual and our Job Safety Analysis (JSA) Database help to provide the most up-to-date information as well as hazard identification, elimination, and controls to help our employees achieve safe work practices. JSAs are a very detailed practice that cover the basic job procedures, hazard assessment and risk assessment for each particular task within a job, in order to eliminate hazards and protect our employees.
Leader uses ISNetworld and Canada HSE to provide customers with the most up-to-date prequalification information on Leader. This information includes our provincial Certificate of Recognition (COR), Workers Compensation Board (WCB) clearance letters, Certificate of Insurance, Health and Safety Policy, and Environmental Policy.
ISNetworld is a prequalification site for large customers to satisfy themselves that a prospective subcontractor meets the customer’s requirements for safety, training, environmental and risk management standards. Leader’s safety manual was created by IMS Global and is compliant with ISNetworld, and every employee can go to the IMS Global site and download Leader’s Safety Manual.
