Leader owns and operates a modern fleet of equipment spreads with an average fleet-wide age of only two years. All of our major equipment is internally owned and operated. Certain key pieces, including state-of-the-art coiled tubing units, are internally designed and manufactured.

Leader’s innovations and in-house manufacturing have reduced truck weights, enabling us to mount a full 4,500 metres of coil on a single truck. Eliminating the need to transport extra coils on separate trucks results in major advantages, including faster service and lower customer costs.

Equipment servicing, overhaul and manufacturing activities take place at our main Grande Prairie facility, a 25,000-square-foot building centrally located in the northwest Alberta/northeast B.C. gas-producing region. We have additional operating bases at Fort St. John, B.C. and Hinton, Alberta.

Coiled Tubing – Leader owns and operates a lineup of 1¼”, 1½”, 1¾” and 2” Class III coiled tubing units for well servicing. They are self-contained and H2S-compliant. Depth capacity on unit spools ranges from 1,800 metres to 4,400 metres, with additional depth capacity available from separate spools. Having 4,400-metre depth capability on a single spool is a major competitive advantage and is thanks to Leader’s in-house manufacturing.

Leader owned and operated five coiled tubing units as of late 2009. Each spread typically consists of the coiled tubing unit, a crane truck (typically 42-tonne capacity), a nitrogen pumper, a nitrogen bulker tank, plus support vehicles. The fleet was recently strengthened with the addition of Unit #14,500, a 2” coiled tubing unit that was designed in-house and manufactured in Leader’s Grande Prairie facility.

Nitrogen – Leader owns and operates a modern fleet of nitrogen spreads. Our entire line of pumpers, pup trailers and tankers is all less than five years old. We offer competitive pricing on all nitrogen services. In addition, our recently rolled-out proprietary data acquisition system enables customers to view well servicing data in real-time plus generate printed reports for future reference and to verify the service provider’s nitrogen pumping activity.

Coil-Conveyed Perforating (CCP) – Leader’s CCP tool strings were designed and manufactured in-house. The tool string consists of a combination of proprietary innovations, many of which remain confidential, as well as some industry-standard items, working together as a unique package. When inserted into a well using coiled tubing, the CCP tool string in a single run plugs, spots acid on and perforates the multiple intervals forming a fracturing stage in a multi-stage-fractured horizontal well.

Leader has multiple CCP tool strings in stock. CCP equipment is transported in a trailer. CCP jobs are performed in conjunction with a Leader coiled tubing unit, which typically consists of the coiled tubing unit (4,400-metre depth capacity from the single spool), crane truck (typically 42-tonne capacity), a nitrogen pumper, a nitrogen bulker tank, support vehicles and an explosives trailer.

Since its introduction in late 2008 Leader’s CCP tool strings have demonstrably succeeded in plugging and perforating difficult deep horizontal wells where two competing systems failed. CCP is highly reliable. We have not had to abandon a single tool string, nor has the CCP approach led to failure or abandonment of a single well. Our CCP strings have performed multiple jobs and helped customer achieve optimum productivity in today’s deep, high-impact horizontal gas wells.
