Leader Energy X Global Environment Centre - Mangrove Tree Planting 2026
Leader Energy marked the third volunteers’ annual planting activity under the Leader Energy Mangrove Conservation and Climate Action for Sustainable Living Programme—our five-year partnership with the Global Environment Centre (GEC).
Together with Pengurusan Lembangan Sungai Muda (PLSM), the Kedah State Forestry Department (KSFD), local communities and volunteers from Sg Pasir Secondary School, Leader Energy, HNGC and the Millen hotel, we planted 1,000 Rhizophora apiculata mangrove trees at Kuala Sungai Muda, Kedah. The initiative brought together 115 participants and supports Malaysia’s National Mangrove Restoration Programme, Kedah’s reforestation targets, and broader climate resilience efforts. The programme aims to plant 22,000 mangrove trees over the span of five years and to date had planted 12,000 trees in total.
“We are not just planting trees. We are restoring ecosystems, strengthening climate resilience, and building a lasting legacy for the communities of Kuala Muda” – Dato’ Sean H’ng, Executive Deputy Chairman and Group Chief Executive Officer
